It is a normal practice in the entertainment circles for musicians to tap into the talents of their colleagues to reach a wider audience and boost their career in the form of feature or collaboration.
But for traditional guitarist King Ayisoba, a candidate for such collaboration must have a global appeal and must have won a prestigious award like the Grammys to qualify for his consideration.
Speaking in an interview on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga, the self-acclaimed king of koligo said his career has bolstered to a point where he doesn’t need collaborations to stay relevant.
However, if he decides to feature any musician, it must be someone with a global appeal and should have won a Grammys award.
This, he believes, will enhance his chances of getting nominated for the American award scheme.
“Where I reach now, I think that I don’t need collaboration and even if I will feature, I need someone who has won a Grammys before. I will want to feature someone who can help me get nominated for a Grammys,” he stated.
He said that many have tipped him for a Grammys award and he is working towards that.
“Because many said that I deserve a Grammys award. So I want to feature someone who is big and has won a Grammys so that I may get a nomination. We are working on getting someone of the kind”.
