President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has once again extolled his vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for what the president believes is the exceptional leadership role he played in Ghana’s digitalization drive.
The Vice-President, Nana Akufo-Addo observed, has been outstanding in this role that his opponents cannot but acknowledge his enormous contribution to the digitalization agenda.
He said through the efforts of Dr. Bawumia in implementing policies and infrastructure geared towards realizing the digitalization agenda, performance particularly in the public sector has improved significantly.
“I have in previous occasions touted my administration’s monumental strives in the digitalization agenda and single out for praise the leadership role of my excellent and indefatigable Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the man all of us including even his enemies in the NDC Dr. Digitalization,” he stated.
“Through his sterling efforts, transparency, efficiency and accountability in the public sector have improved significantly”.
President Akufo-Addo made these comments while speaking at the launch of the Ghana Smart Schools Project.
Under the project, about 1.3 million educational tablets will be distributed to students in Senior High School, with each student expected to benefit.
President Akufo-Addo explained that the project is in line with government’s move to leverage digitization to improve quality of education under the Free SHS policy.
The tablets, he indicated, are fitted with digital content that will aid research, teaching and learning in the various schools.
He also reveals plans by government to provide similar educational technology at discounted prices to students and lecturers at the tertiary level to aid academic activities.
