The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mourning the death of one of its stalwarts John Kologo Tia.
John Tia is said to have died Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Upper East Regional Hospital where he was rushed to for treatment after he fell ill.
His death has left many particularly in the NDC shock as they say they had seen him out and about as recent as yesterday and are struggling to come to terms with his sudden demise.
John Tia was a founding member of the NDC and one of the pioneers of the party in the Upper East Region.
He contested the 1992 parliamentary elections in the Talensi Constituency and won on the NDC’s ticket and had occupied the seat till 2012 when he was ousted by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) Robert N. Doameng Mosore.
In 2009, when the NDC returned to power after 8 years in opposition, he was appointed Minister for Information under the Atta-Mills government.
He was subsequently made Ghana’s Ambassador to Cuba under the Mahama administration.
