The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is aiming to win at least 7 seats in the Upper East Region in the upcoming general elections.

The party also hopes to increase its presidential votes in the area significantly to firm  its quest for another tenure in office.

Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, the party’s Communications Director for the region Peter Ayinbisa said a research it conducted in the region shows it stands a chance of winning more than the stated figure if its campaign is well executed.

He said the party is therefore tasking its regional campaign team to work hard to increase its fortunes in the region.

“The party has set out to win 7 seats in this region so that’s a clear target for them. They have to do everything to win 7. But our opinion and research proves that we could get more but we must we have a certain target so we target 7,” he stated.

“But chances are that if we work hard particularly now that we have had these illustrious sons and daughters of our region who are now the campaign team members, if they work extra hard, it’s possible we can increase the number of seats in this region”.

Peter Ayinbisa said this while speaking on the inauguration of the regional campaign team.

The team led by the party’s regional chairman Anthony Namoo and assisted by the regional minister Stephen Yakubu is tasked to prosecute the NPP’s campaign at the regional level in furtherance of its bid to clinch another victory.

Peter Ayinbisa said the team is made of members who have carved niches in society and wield the influence to enhance the party’s chances in the region.
