Flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has settled on his running-mate for the 2024 Elections.
Mr. Mahama, in his last attempt to return to the presidency in 2020, nominated Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running-mate.
Although other persons have been tipped to partner the former leader this time around, reports indicate that he is likely to maintain her.
A statement dated March 7, 2024 and issued by Special Aide to Mr. Mahama indicates that he will, today, submit the name of his nominee to the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC’s) National Executive Committee (NEC) as well as the party’s Council of Elders for consideration.
The move is in accordance with the NDC’s constitution which mandates the presidential candidate to nominate his vice candidate in consultation with the National Executive Council and the National Council of Elders.
“Selecting a Running Mate is an important decision, and John Mahama is confident his nominee embodies the values and vision of the NDC and will contribute to a successful electoral campaign,” it said of the yet-to-be named nominee.
The former professed his dedication to working tirelessly in advancing the interests of the Ghanaian people and “reset the country on a path towards recovery and a prosperous future”.
