A Retired Educationist and senior citizen, Robert Ajene, is urging Ghanaians not to leave the management of the country to only the party in power.
He opines that the governance of a nation must be all encompassing and should not be left to the discretion of the governing party.
According to him, opponents should be able to offer suggestions that help improve the country. These suggestions he adds should be welcomed by the party in power.
Speaking Monday on the State of Our Nation ahead of Ghana’s 67th Independence anniversary, Mr. Ajene, noted that governance should be all involving.
“If we as Ghanaians have seen this particular side of policy is not good, (we should be thinking) how can we work to repair it. But not whose party did it and it wasn’t done well so they haven’t done well. I don’t like that. This party didn’t do well , maybe they didn’t know that’s why they didn’t do it well,” he stated.
“How can we do it better? We would know where we are going. But it always this party did, they can never do anything good. We will never agree with them. I think it’s very sad. That’s not how American, Canada and other developed countries are practicing democracy”.
He indicated that the country is not doing too well and hopes that there would a national agenda being championed by all instead of political parties.
“I think we are not doing very well. Watch your political opponent, don’t condemn him, find all the suggestions that they are making, add good suggestions to develop so that will lead towards the development of the nation rather than saying ‘he belongs to this party, they can never do anything good’”.
