Authorities at the Upper East Regional Hospital are expecting to receive consumables to commence the operations of the dialysis centre.
Speaking Thursday on the State of Our Nation, Dr. Emmanuel Akatibo, a Physician Specialist at the facility noted that the hospital has completed processing for purchasing the consumables and are only expecting the arrival of the items.
All things being equal, he disclosed that the facility will be operationalized before the end of March 2024.
“They have already done the award. We are just waiting for the person to deliver the consumables to us. Two days ago, I spoke with the administrator. I actually didn’t get to know exactly when the timeline for delivery is but he told me that we should expect them within maybe 2 weeks or 3 weeks, we should be able to get it,” he stated.
“Then we can start with what we have. If we get the consumables, it shouldn’t take us more than a week. For the operationalization, march. Let’s say second week of March, we should be able to start operating this centre”.
In March 2023, a campaign was launched to solicit funds from members of the public to establish a dialysis centre. This saw members of the public generously donate to have the centre set up.
He explained that the centre will be put to use before the official inauguration once the items arrive.
“Initially, we planned that when we are going to start it we invite the stakeholders who supported to do this. But unfortunately, we don’t want to leave some stakeholders out. So we decided that we will start operating then when everything is complete, we can now do a formal fanfare so that everyone who was involved in it can be acknowledged”.
