Deputy Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region Andrew Atariwine says president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should be applauded for his decision to reshuffle his appointees.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today, Andrew Atariwine argues that the move indicates that the president is committed in delivering on his mandate.
“That tells you this is a president that cares because he has a lot of the nine or 10 months to just sit down, Ghanaians would complain, he would offer speeches, appear in public places, and then end the year and hand over. But he still believes that even it is a day left, he needs to work, he needs to give out everything within my arsenal to be able to help Ghana move forward,” he stated.
His comments are in reaction to reports of pending changes in the NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
President Akufo-Addo since taking over the leadership of the country has been reluctant in changing his appointees despite demands even by members of his party.
However, latest reports suggest he is likely to, for the first time in 7 years, make significant changes in his government.
Some deem this purported move as little too late as they argue the changes will make no difference in the governance of the country .
But for Andrew Atariwine, the decision is a clear indication that the president is still working tirelessly to resolve the development challenges confronting Ghana and seeking refresh brains to that end despite having less than a year to exit power.
