Paramount Chief of Nangodi Na-Pariyoung Kosom Asaga Yelzoya II has likened the 24-hour policy proposed by flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress to the Christian gospel.

Speaking during John Dramani Mahama’s engagement with members of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Naab Asaga Yelzoya II said the 24-hour is a remarkable policy idea that, if well implemented, could rescue the country from the prevailing crisis and boost its economy.

“I am very excited about the 24-hour economy. The little know about it, I say I am excited. I think it couldn’t have come anytime better than now.  I call it the gospel of the 24-hour  economy comparable to the gospel that came in Jesus’ time. Understand me with this exaggeration,” he stated.

He noted that the current economic difficulties have brought unbearable hardships on Ghanaians and that the proposal by Mr. Mahama is timely in turning things around.

“You see poverty is biting. It is palpable. You can feel it. In these times, people are looking for a deliverer or something to deliver them. So when you come with 24-hour economy, you give hope and excitement to people”.

While applauding the former leader for such a brilliant idea, Naaba Asaga Yelzoya II asserted that the policy will restore hope in Ghanaians by making available employment opportunities for them.

He urged the NDC flagbearer to commit to its implementation if he is elected.

But for him, it will not be out of place if the current administration adopt the idea and start implementing.

“The current government should adopt 24-hour economy and implement. When you come, we are praying that you will implement it with all the seriousness and including the other things you have said”.

John Dramani Mahama, who is seeking to return to power, has proposed the 24-hour economy as part of policies and programmes to resolve the economic difficulties and the high rate of unemployment.

The former president acknowledged that implementing the policy idea will come with challenges but indicated he is poised to surmount any such obstacle.
