Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has dispelled claims that the party is seeking to return to the morning show of an Accra-based Peace FM which the NDC boycotted.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the Communication Bureau of the party led by him has no intention of rescinding their decision of ceasing placement of party communicators on the current affairs show dubbed Kookrookoo of Peace FM.

Describing the show as overhyped, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi reiterated that the party’s boycott of the show is still in force and urged the public particularly his party’s supporters to ignore what he said are falsehoods.

“For the records, the NDC has never, and will never beg to appear on Peace FM’s Kookrookoo. The Communications Bureau that I lead, has no intentions of ever returning to that show. The NDC brand is far greater than that overhyped platform. They can tickle themselves and laugh, but our boycott still stands. Ignore the lies,” Sammy Gyamfi stated in a post on social media.

The statement follows reports from some quarters that suggest that the biggest opposition party in the country is seeking a return to the show which it boycotted months ago.

In May this year, the NDC boycotted the morning show dubbed Kookrookoo of Peace FM. The party in a statement notifying its communicators, members, media monitors and officials of the boycott said the decision was occasioned by the unfair paneling system foisted on the party by the host and production team of the show.

The party said it had complained numerously about the decision of the producers and host of the programme to permanently reserve one of the Wednesday’s slots of the NDC on the show to the party’s former Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs as it viewed Mr. Jacobs’ appearance on the show in the name of the party as unfair and a spite to the party.

But their complains and efforts, the party said, to have the reservation of the slot to Mr. Allotey Jacobs reversed proved futile hence their decision to boycott the show in protest against what it viewed as flagrant disregard for fairness by the host , Kwame Sefa Kayi and the producers of the show.
