The first President of the republic of Ghana cannot win any election in the country if he were alive to contest for an election in the current political system of the country, the Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC) has said.
In his assertion, former President Nkrumah who is hailed in and outside the country for his patriotism and selflessness stands no chance of winning any election organized under the current political atmosphere of the country.
This, according to Hassan Ayariga, is because the political space in the country now is engulfed with corruption and monetization that Dr. Nkrumah will not be able to compete and succeed in any kind of election Organized.
He opined that the kind of politicking advanced by the current crop of politicians is geared towards winning votes instead of initiating and formulating policies for the development of the country, as a result, it is impossible for politicians like the first President of Ghana who are keen on developmental policies and initiatives to have successful political careers in the current political sphere.
“If Nkrumah were alive today, he can’t win any election in Ghana. The dynamics of the current political game are dirty. We have leaders who have turned this country into a dirty political ground. We have leaders now who instead of looking at policies and programs are making promises to win elections. We have leaders who have turned this country into a vote- buying (ground). Nkrumah can never win any elections in the 21st century when he comes back because the Ghanaian politicians have destroyed the values and fundamentals of politics,” he stated.
Hassan Ayariga who was answering questions on whether he subscribes to the political philosophies and ideologies of the first President of Ghana said his inability to win the presidential elections in the country is because of the corruption in the politics of the country.
He is, however, confident of a sanitized political sphere in the near future as, he said, the corrupt politics of the leading politicians are being exposed.
“That is why I am where I am (unable to win the presidential elections). Until the Ghanaian people begin to understand the kind of leaders we have and gradually we are getting there. Ghanaians are getting tired of the NDC and NPP gradually,” he said.
On whether he subscribes to the political philosophies and ideologies of Dr. Nkrumah, Mr. Hassan Ayariga said he has his own political philosophies and ideologies and does not ascribe to that of the Nkruma’s.
