He faced the most challenging tasks, lifted and pulled the heftiest metals, objects. He persevered and endured and in a number of instances, got close to almost lifting the trophy.
But his failures in 6 arduous attempts did not deflate his dream. He continued his pursuit for the ultimate. It was only in 2021 that he pulled out of the competition, contemplating hanging up his boot. However, he quickly got back into his spirits and made a return the following year with much vigour and more determined to be crowned champion.
That year, he finished third.
With years of experience and resilience, Akolbila made another attempt in the 2023 edition of the competition.
After weeks of exceptional performance, displaying spectacular physical prowess, Akolbila emerged victorious, claiming the title over his competitors.
In an interview on Dreamz FM’s Total Sports, the champion explained that his desire to earn his region, the Upper East Region the bragging right of being home to the most strongest man in the entire country was the driving force behind his relentless pursuit for the crown.
“I wanted this title to be in this region for once. Because it has been to Wa twice, it has been to Kumasi severally, Accra but it has never been to this region so it had always been something that I wanted to achieve for not only me or my family but for the region. I belong to this region so I needed to bring it here,” he stated.
