The District Chief Executive of Talensi District, Thomas Duanab Wuni, who is Aspiring to represent the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 parliamentary Elections in the constituency, has justified his continuous appearance in the contest for the seat.
Mr Duanab contested the 2015 Parliamentary by-election, 2016 and 2020 Parliamentary Elections in the constituency, but lost to National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Candidate in all the three instances.
But after filing to contest the NPP’s Parliamentary Primaries in the Constituency, Mr Duanab stated that, these appearances coupled with his current position as DCE have enhanced his chances of winning the seat in 2024.
He said, he has gained popularity through these appearances and the life changing developmental projects doted across the District under his leadership as DCE.
Mr Duanab stressed that, “You [NPP] need to keep repeating a face to get what you want. If every election, you [NPP] bring a new person in a weak constituency like ours, we will continue to change candidates and will never win elections”
“I’m never complacent. I’m approaching this election with all the seriousness that you can think of. My eyes are red. I do not want to say it’s a do or die affair but it’s very keen,” he added.
Mr Duanab noted that, he has been delivering his polling station since 2012, unlike his contenders whose polling centres the party has constantly lost, a development he strongly believed doesn’t add to the fortunes of the NPP in the Constituency.
