Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage has challenged the opposition National Democratic Congress in the region to point to their legacies in the region after several years of being in power.
According to her, building of classrooms by the NDC which are commonly associated with the mandate of District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies do not amount to a legacy by the standards of the New Patriotic Party.
In her assertion, a legacy constitutes the construction of huge projects that leave greater impacts on the lives of the people and appear novel.
“NDC cannot do ‘foko’ because even when they sleep they don’t dream. I’m the Regional Minister for the Upper East region. I can say on authority that when it comes to legacy in this region [I’m not talking of 2 by 4 classroom block], so when you go and point to a 2 by 4 classroom block and tell me that is a legacy; that is not a legacy,” she said.
Ms. Tangoba Abayage who was addressing party supporters at the inauguration of the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party in the Navrongo Central constituency continued that “a legacy is the fact that since the beginning of generations till today as we speak, nobody ever saw the Navrongo-Naaga road tarred. A contract of 44 million Ghana cedis contract. That is the beginning of a legacy”.
She counted ongoing projects in the region which include the rehabilitation of the Tono Irrigation Project, installation of ultra modern traffic lights in Navrongo as legacy projects of the Nana Addo led administration.
Ms. Abayage who doubles as parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the Navrongo Central constituency expressed confidence in the victory of the party in the 2020 polls due to “the unmatched policies and programs of the NPP. We will match the NDC project for project”.
